FACES FROM PLACES
-WORK IN PROGRESS-
I began this series as a study of different skin tones, bone structures and an experiment with a contained and limited color palette. In a matter of 28 continuous days, I painted 14 paintings (9 shown here and 3 below) simply to see if I could. I learned more than I ever expected. I learned to really look at people that don't necessarily look like me and to appreciate their unique beauty. You really can accomplish amazing things when you go for it. I began painting in earnest a little over 1 year ago and i have been determined to hone this skill.
I plan to continue this series without an end in sight. My goal is to paint the faces of as many races and ethnicities as I can, so I realize that I have a long road ahead of me. This will truly be a labor of love. My genuine hope is to make people feel loved, included and wanted. If we can all realize that we’re nothing more than human beings, maybe we can be more forgiving, tolerant and understanding of each other. “Red, brown, yellow, black and white, we’re all precious...”
